Mercedes W219 CLS500 Rear Brake Service & Air Spring Replacement. Failed Air Spring leaking is a very common problem. While a conventional conventional suspension uses a steel coil springs, the Mercedes Airmatic system employs an air spring bag or bellow for a more comfortable ride and allow ride height adjustment. The most common reason for failure is due to dry rotting of the air spring bag. This happens over time as the rubber starts to deteriorate and causes leaks. If the air spring springs are not replaced on time it will cause Air Suspension Compressor or Shock Absorber to fail.
